Parental Guardianship for Minors

Parental Guardianship Program for Minors in Online Games by Qingdao Lanfei Interactive Entertainment Technology Co., Ltd.

The "Parental Guardianship Program for Minors in Online Games" is an initiative launched by Sina Weibo Micro-Game Platform in accordance with relevant national regulations, under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China. It is a public welfare campaign aimed at strengthening parents' guardianship over minors' participation in online games, guiding minors to engage in online games in a healthy and green manner, and fostering harmonious family relationships. The program provides a practical method and a channel for parents to implement supervision, making it possible for parents to correct the behavior of some minor children who are addicted to games. This public welfare campaign fully reflects the high sense of social responsibility of China's online game industry, its attention to the legitimate rights and interests of minor players, and its aspiration to contribute to building a harmonious society through concrete actions.

Tips for Minors to Engage in Online Games Healthily

  • Actively control game time. Games are only a supplement to study and life. Minors should actively participate in various offline activities and let their parents know about their behaviors and experiences in online games.
  • Do not engage in game settings that may consume a lot of time. Do not play large-scale role-playing games or games with Player-Killing (PK) settings. Student minors should spend no more than 2 hours playing games per week and no more than 10 yuan on in-game purchases per month.
  • Do not regard games as a spiritual anchor. Especially when encountering pressure and setbacks in real life, minors should communicate and confide more with family members and friends, rather than relying solely on games to relieve stress.
  • Develop a positive and healthy attitude towards games. Overcome psychology such as comparison, showing off, hatred and revenge, and avoid forming bad online behavioral habits such as bullying the weak and robbing others.
  • Pay attention to protecting personal information, including personal family and friends' identity information, addresses of family, school and workplace, and phone numbers, to guard against online traps and cybercrimes.

Application Process for Parental Guardianship

The parental guardianship system fully takes into account the actual needs of parents. When parents find that their children are overly addicted to games, they can provide legal guardian qualification certificates, the name and account of the game played by the child, and the parents' expectations for the intensity of restrictions. Several restrictive measures can be taken for the account of the child who is addicted to online games to address the bad phenomenon of minors' addiction to online games. For example, restricting the time interval and duration of the child's daily game play, allowing games only on weekends, or completely prohibiting game play.
